The following are services that are provided or coordinated by the Department of Senior Services. The process is initiated with the submission of a Referral Form.
Currently, there are NO wait list for these services.



 Services Provided


​Daytime care of any part of a day but less than 24-hour care for functionally and/or cognitively impaired elderly persons provided through a structured program of social and rehabilitative and/or maintenance services in a supportive group setting other than the client's home.


Monday-Friday from 7am - 6pm

Generations Adult Day Care

​The provision of nutritious meals to homebound older persons.

Community Action of Allegan County (CAAC)

​In home supports services may consist of any combination of the following tasks and duties based on the needs and wishes of the client and their caregiver:


Performance of routine household tasks necessary to maintain an adequate living environment for older individuals with functional limitations such as:
  • Laundry
  • Ironing
  • Meal preparation
  • Shopping and errands
  • Light housekeeping

Personal Care

Personal Care includes assistance with activities of daily living such as:
  • Eating
  • Bathing
  • Dressing
  • Personal hygiene
  • Toileting
  • Transferring

In Home Respite

Respite care includes companionship, supervision and assistance to mentally or physically disabled, and frail elderly persons in the absence of their primary caregiver.
In home supports services may also include supervising the care of the client by reminding, prompting, cuing, and frequently directing the activities of daily living.
Alliance Home Health Care Services (primary provider) covers the entire county, and Evergreen Commons covers the west side of the county.

​Personal Emergency Response Systems (PERS) for the most frail seniors with no informal support system in place (family, friends, etc).  Clients must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Client must be oriented and in possession of faculties to absorb training in the equipment, and be able to operate the button appropriately.
  • Client must be homebound for a no cost to you PERS unit OR at least 2 of the following: fallen at least once in the 90 days, has been hospitalized in the last 90 days, lives alone with NO family contact.


  • GPS units are available to non-homebound clients for a fee of $25.00
  • Clients living in housing units that have safety pull cords are not eligiable for the no cost to you PERS units


Connect America Medical Alert

​Seniors who are no longer driving can access this service for medical and legal appointments, grocery shopping and errands.  Depending on the mobility level of the senior, service can be provided on a wheelchair friendly bus or with a volunteer driver.  Rides are prioritized using the following criteria:

  • Medical appointments
  • Nutritional appointments
  • Legal appointments
  • Shopping and errands
Door-to-door service is provided by volunteer drivers. Please call 1 week in advance.
Volunteer Transportation is provided through both Community Action of Allegan County (CAAC) and Allegan County Senior Services.  Bus transportation is provided through Allegan County Transportation.

​The Outreach and Assistance program is offered as a direct service of the Allegan County Department of Senior Services. The Outreach and Assistance Coordinator is available Monday-Thursday, 9am to 3pm by appointment only to assist seniors and their caregivers with:

  • Coordinating services available throughout the county
  • Assistance with completing paperwork for government assistance, insurance, etc.
  • Medicare Part D (cost savings) counseling
